The College Counts Smart Art Contest encourages students to begin thinking about college and careers. This program brings awareness of Alabama’s 529 college savings program and emphasizes to families the importance of saving early for college. Ms. Stanton taught a lesson on careers with the culmination of the lesson being of the artwork contest and narrative of 50 words or less describing what the student wants to do upon the completion of college.
The students had an opportunity to participate in a College Smart Art Contest. This art contest is sponsored by the Office of State Treasurer & the Alabama State Department of Education.
The students submitted their artwork on November 15th. The artwork was judged by Don Bryant, board member- Heather Johnson, community member- & Tara Battles, TES art teacher. Our 1st place winner of the contest is Madonno Keyes.
Winners from each LEA, or school system, will be awarded a $100 College Counts 529 direct-sold account. All system level winners will also be entered into a statewide contest upon submission of their artwork in Montgomery for three grand prizes of $529 in a College Counts 529 account.
